CANTON, OH (WOIO) - Yellow caution tape and Canton police cruises blocked off the home where two men, two women, and a dog were found shot and killed Thursday afternoon.
"The rumor is the ex-boyfriend came over. Him and his girlfriend are always fighting. They can be loud and boisterous, and I guess it got out of hand," said neighbor James Clark. "Came home, shot her, shot the mother and the father and the dog."
Canton police called the scene a domestic situation.
Tuesday evening authorities hadn't released the names or ages of the four adult victims found dead on the first floor of the home, but a man outside told Cleveland 19 News the eldest woman found dead inside the home was his ex-wife.
"It hurts. It really hurts," said Jim Herman. "She was my best friend."
Herman said he didn't know the man suspected in the shooting, but he said the youngest woman killed was once like a daughter to him.
"I've known her since the day she was born. I was at the hospital, even," he said.
Herman said he was in shock. Tuesday night, the same feeling was also felt by John Miller, who said he was close friends with the oldest man killed.
"He was a good guy. I hate to see him go like this," Miller said. "It's a big loss for everybody."
Miller said they were friends for more than a decade. He never expected anything like this to happen.
"He just got out of chemo. He was doing good, he was coming back around," Miller said. "He will be missed."
Canton police found two unharmed dogs inside the home. They were removed by Animal Control.
Police plan to hold a news conference Friday morning to release more information, including the victim's names
