BROOK PARK, OH (WOIO) -

Indicted Brook Park Councilwoman Julie Anne McCormick has officially resigned after refusing to leave city council.

Here is the letter she sent to Mayor Thomas J. Coyne:

Dear Mayor Coyne,

I voluntarily resign my seat on the Brook Park City Council effective immediately. I have already turned in my keys and relinquished my office.

She earlier had been indicted for two thefts totaling over $1,000 from Target stores in Strongsville and North Olmsted. The councilwoman resigned in a letter to Council President Jim Astorino after the first case, then because the resignation was not signed she later claimed she did not resign

When asked to leave city council, she refused and filed a temporary restraining order against council, temporarily halting any effort to remove her.
