More than 100 3M plant workers losing jobs in Elyria

ELYRIA, OH (WOIO) - The mayor of Elyria was notified that 3M announced its intention to close the Elyria Facility on Lowell Street. Eventually, the plan is to permanent close the entire facility.

Job eliminations will take place gradually over the next several months starting on May 31, the job cuts will end on Aug. 31. Approximately 136 employees are expected to experience a permanent employment loss.

Around 106 workers are represented by the Workers United Union.

Impacted employees will be given a notice of their job loss 60 days before it happens. Union employees have the chance to exercise bumping rights per the collective bargaining agreement.

Employees will be offered severance benefits and will have the opportunity to pursue other employment within 3M.
