Canton shooting victims, suspect identified in domestic incident

Police responded for reports of a shooting in Canton on Thursday afternoon. Two men, two woman, and a dog were found fatally shot at a home in the 500 block of Smith Avenue. Canton police are considering the incident a domestic situation.

The victims are Cheyenne Calderon, 20, who is the ex-fiancee of the suspect, Kelly Freshour, 50, Timothy Keyser, 70.

The suspect, 21-year-old Tres Peterson and ex-fiancee of Calderon, also died.

Police said Peterson was armed with a 9mm handgun, entered the residence through an unlocked rear door. Once inside Peterson shot and killed the dog that was in the kitchen. He then went after Calderon, who was in the kitchen, and fired his gun throughout the home, authorities said.

Calderon ran into a first floor bedroom where Freshour and Keyser both were and kill all three victims, police said. A report said Peterson then went to the dining room and shot and killed himself.

During the incident, Brandon Posey, a 25-year-old friend of Calederon, was in the home with a 3-year-old child in the living room. Posey took the child and left through the front door. Neither were physically injured.

"The rumor is the ex-boyfriend came over. Him and his girlfriend are always fighting. They can be loud and boisterous, and I guess it got out of hand," said neighbor James Clark. "Came home, shot her, shot the mother and the father and the dog."

A man outside of the home during the police investigation told Cleveland 19 News the eldest woman found dead inside the home was his ex-wife.
