LORAIN, OH (WOIO) -

A Lorain man is locked up after rear-ending a police cruiser and fleeing the scene.

Police say Scott Harris, 45, was at Oberlin Avenue and W. 21st Street around 2:45 a.m. Sunday when his Honda Civic slammed into the back of Officer Todd Hite's cruiser.

Harris was arrested shortly after the crash, about a block away from the scene.

Officer Hite was treated and released from Mercy Regional Medical Center. The cruiser was not drivable after the crash.

Harris was charged with OVI, leaving the scene, no driver's license and assured clear distance.

Police also charged the Honda's owner Lenne Aspden, 55, with wrongful entrustment of a motor vehicle.
