Canton mother jailed after allegedly slashing her two daughters

CANTON, OH (WOIO) - Police say a woman was jailed Tuesday night after officers found her two kids with cuts to their bodies.

According to Canton Police, officers responded to the 1400 block of Miami Court NE around 9 p.m. after a woman called to report that she cut her children's throats and wrists. When police arrived, they found a mother and her two children suffering from cuts to their bodies.

The two girls, ages 7- and 10-years-old, were taken to Mercy Hospital, and later to Akron Children's Hospital, for treatment to cuts to their necks and wrists. The injuries are believed to be non-life threatening. The mother, 31-year-old Nicole James-Auburn, was also taken to an area hospital to treat cuts to her wrists, but was later released to Canton Police.

James-Auburn was booked into the Stark County Jail and charged with two counts of attempted murder.

Police are still investigating the incident.
