Strongsville K9 to receive bulletproof body armor

STRONGSVILLE, OH (WOIO) - A Strongsville K-9 is receiving a donation from a local non-profit organization that could potentially save the dog's life in the future.

Appropriately named, Chase the Strongsville Police K9 will receive a bullet and strap protective vest, which will be embroidered with "In loving memory of K9 Achill."

The vest is a donation from the organization Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. and is sponsored by Paulette Penzes of Middleburg Heights. The organization has provided more than 2,400 protective vests to K-9 officers. Each potentially live-saving vest has a value between $1,795 and $2,234.

The vest is expected to be ready by late May or early June.
