Man accused of kicking police K9, assaulting woman, stealing Xbox

CANTON, OH (WOIO) - A man is accused of assaulting a woman and a police K9 Tuesday night.

The woman said her child's father struck her in the head and stole an Xbox before taking off in her car, police said. He returned hours later, assaulted the victim again and resisted arrest, according to the police report.

The suspect kicked a police K9 in the face causing injuries, police said. The K9 hurt was Tuko. Tuko is the German shepherd Officer Ryan Davis selected in Houston after K9 Jethro was killed in the line of duty.

The suspect has been identified as Gregory L. Shundry. He's been arrested on charges of domestic violence, resisting arrest and assaulting or harassing police dog.
