CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - One man is dead after a shooting on Cleveland's east side.
The shooting happened near a gas station at the corner of Broadway Avenue and Union Avenue around 3:20 p.m. on Sunday, April 9.
The victim was later found near the shooting scene, in the 6000 block of Morton Avenue. He was shot several times and taken to the hospital where he later died, according to Cleveland EMS officials.
Neighbors who heard the gunfire reacted quickly to what had happened.
"You see all that, that's crazy. Broad daylight on a Sunday. Insanity," said Khalid Samad.
"It's Palm Sunday, need a cease fire with these nuts," Samad said.
Surveillance video from the gas station shows the victim standing near the front of the store. He walks up towards the street when he sees the shooter, then starts running. You can even see a gun thrown on the ground.
"I just wondered who got shot now? It sounds bad, but that's the way it is," said neighbor Sherry Koscielski.
Evidence markers littered the ground in the front of the gas station, behind in the alleyway, and into the next street.
"I hear gunshots here regularly. I ty to keep the animals away from the windows because I'm afraid they will get shot," Koscielski.
Koscielski lives across from the gas station, and says the vacant buildings need to be torn down, and police need to do their jobs.
"I think that the police, their hands are tied too much. Everyone is running around rampant. Everyone is getting away with too much," Koscielski.
No word yet from Cleveland Police if they have any suspects in custody.
