Indians fan with "2016 Champs" tattoo has no regrets

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - Indians fans show their love for the team in all sorts of ways.

Mike Nero, from Chagrin Falls, knows the power of social media after his picture went viral in 2016.

Nero got a tattoo just a few hours before Game 7 of the World Series. It's contains Chief Wahoo and the words "2016 Champs"- next to the Cleveland Cavaliers logo.

He was confident the Tribe would we able to beat the Chicago Cubs and clinch the title. As we know, the Tribe went on to lose and the Cubs were crowned the champions.

Nero has no regrets. He said the tattoo was also a tribute to his brother Anthony and their love of going to baseball games together and competitive spirit.

"Honestly it goes back to my brother again, because we always tried to one up each other with doing some crazy stuff," Nero said. "He actually passed away a couple of years ago, and he's always wanted to see the Cavs or the Indians make a run to the championship. I figured if I did this, it'd be a way to get at him one time- kind of one last time!"

Nero said his friend actually put the image of his tattoo on Twitter. Nero said he didn't realize it until after the ballgame started. He likes what he sees in this year's team.

"We've got some really good new guys that came in- Encarnacion obviously is killing it," Nero said. "Brantley- having him back is going to be a huge help, so I think we have another chance of making it back there."

Nero said the tattoo year can always be changed.
