UNIONTOWN, OH (WOIO) -

The Stark County Sheriff's Office is investigating an apparent attempt to induce panic at Lake Local Schools.

School officials learned Thursday of a social media post indicating a student may bring a gun to school. The Middle School and High School both issued a lockdown from 7:40 a.m. to 7:51 a.m.

During that time, a 12-year-old seventh-grade student was identified and detained. No weapons were found and there was no indication that students or staff were in imminent danger.

Both schools have resumed normal operations and will dismiss at the regular time.

The Stark County Sheriff's Office has charged the student with Delinquency by Inducing Panic. The student has been booked into the Multi-County Juvenile Attention Center.
