PAINESVILLE, OH (WOIO) -

Two suspects were taken into custody after a standoff that started early Sunday morning.

Painesville Police were called to a home in the 200 block of Jefferson Street around 4:30 am. The woman who lived in the home reported that she heard someone trying to kick in her door.

The two men, both armed, were able to gain entry to the home, encountered the woman and tried to rob her. She was able to escape from the home unharmed.

Police arrived a short time later and the two suspects were holed up inside the house. Police surrounded the home and called in the SWAT team. They tried to make contact with the suspects inside, and eventually went into the home and took the suspects into custody shortly after 9 am.

The suspects were taken into custody without incident. Their names will not be released until they charged and arraigned tomorrow morning in Painesville Municipal Court.

Painesville Police Chief Anthony Powalie says more information will be released Monday morning.
