Local leaders, celebrities show support for victim of Facebook murder

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - The family of Robert Godwin, Sr., the 74-year-old man murdered-at-random and the video posted on Facebook, has received a large show of support from the community after the tragedy they just endured. A long list of celebrities even took to social media to express their condolences to the family and condone the actions of the murder suspect.

According to the Associated Press, Godwin, Sr. was a former foundry worker and often collected aluminum cans along the side of the road in plastic bags. The victim's family told Cleveland 19 that Godwin, Sr. just finished Easter dinner with the family before he was killed.

A family member said, "It's not real. This man right here was a good guy. He would give you the shirt off his back."

Several GoFundMe accounts have been established to benefit the victim's family. The fundraising website said all funds will reach the family.
