BROOKLYN, OH (WOIO) -

In a matter of minutes, a couple inches of water created flash flooding in Brooklyn late Wednesday night.

The Big Creek Reservation overflowed and left cars stranded in parking lots surrounding the reservation. The Parma Fire Department performed several water rescues Wednesday night and checked cars in parking lots to make sure everyone was removed safely.

Some shoppers at the Sam's Club at the intersection of Brookpark Road and Tiedeman Road were even rescued by boat because of flooding in the store. Some residents in the area said their basements flooded.

The severe weather stopped late Wednesday, but the threat for more heavy rain and storms continues Thursday. Click here for the full forecast.
