CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - Cleveland Police say the father accused of taking two of his kids has been arrested and the children are safe.
The incident that sparked an Amber Alert started at 4 p.m. Thursday, April 20 when police say 30 year old Antonio Hart got into an argument with the mother of the children, ages two years and 9 months.
Police say Hart fled from a home in the 3400 block of East 149th street on Cleveland's east side, with the two girls.
That sparked a region-wide Amber Alert around 8 p.m. Thursday that ended an hour later at East 66th street and Warsaw Avenue when Hart's vehicle finally stopped.
Police say Hart fled the scene and ran into the woods, but left the children inside the vehicle. One was in a car seat, the other was strapped in by a seatbelt.
Both children were not injured and were returned to the custody of their mother. Hart was later captured by police, handcuffed and taken into custody where he will face a variety of criminal charges.
At one point during the pursuit of Hart, police say he rammed his vehicle, a Lincoln Continental, into a police cruiser. The cruiser sustained damaged but the officer was not hurt.
