YOUNGSTOWN, OH (WOIO) -

A suspect in an attempted store robbery may need to spend more time practicing his penmanship before his next heist, if he's not caught first.

According to Youngstown Police the suspect's poor handwriting nearly foiled a robbery.

The man walked into a Family Dollar store on Market Street Thursday evening and handed the employee a note demanding money. The employee couldn't understand it so he handed it back and asked him to read it.

The robber read the illegible letter aloud and the clerk complied, giving him money out of the cash register and a pack of cigarettes.

The clerk called police but by they time officers arrived he had already gotten his goods and left.

If you recognize the suspect give police a call.
