17-year-old killed in accidental Akron shooting, police say

Authorities say a 17-year-old was killed Friday afternoon during an accidental shooting in Akron.

Officers responded to a shooting on the 600 block of Fulmer Avenue around 1 p.m. They found a 17-year-old with a fatal gunshot wound to his chest.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Dylan Ray Hudson, 18, of Akron, has been charged with reckless homicide and receiving stolen property in the shooting.

The gun had been reported stolen from a car on Lansing Road.

Hudson has been booked into the Summit County Jail.

The Summit County Medical Examiner's Office will conduct an autopsy.

The victim's name is being withheld pending positive identification and family notifications.

Authorities say the shooting appears to be accidental.
