CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

The Cleveland Police homicide unit has been called to investigate the death of a 7-week-old infant girl.

Police were called to the residence in the 2400 block of Woodhill Road around 5:30 a.m. Saturday.

The infant was dead on arrival. The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner has identified the baby as Ravyn Merritt.

Preliminary information is that the mother fell asleep with the child and possibly rolled over onto the baby, according to CPD Public Information Officer Sergeant Jennifer Ciaccia.

The homicide unit was notified. Police did not say if drug or alcohol use was a factor in the incident. So far, no arrests have been made and no charges have been filed.
