ELYRIA, OH (WOIO) - After 30 years as a well-known part of the Elyria community, The Salvation Army Family Thrift Store on Cleveland Street will close May 13.
"The decision to close the store was not made lightly," stated Major Patrick L. Wilson, who oversees The Salvation Army Family Thrift Stores in Northeast Ohio, "but after a very thorough review, this was the only viable option."
The week before the store closing, May 6 through 13 all prices will be half off. Any items that do not sell by the slated closing date will be disbursed throughout the Cleveland market to other Salvation Army thrift stores.
"The Elyria Thrift Store provided great value to many families in need," says Major Wilson. "We are thankful for the many decades that The Salvation Army was able to host a Thrift Store in this wonderful city. We are grateful to all of those in the community who provided donations, and shopped at this location. These were invaluable resources to assist individuals in our rehabilitation programs."
Despite the closing of the Elyria thrift store, The Salvation Army at 716 Broad St., will continue to remain open to focus on assisting all those who are in need. This location covers a broad range of service offerings such as rent & utilities assistance, teen mentoring programs, food pantry, soup kitchen, after school tutoring, and open gym for recreational use.
