AVON LAKE, OH (WOIO) - Diane DeChant has been volunteering with the group Love-A-Stray for several years.
"We take in bad cases of dogs that have been shot, heart worms, just in need of vet care, and boarding," DeChant said.
To pay for all those services to help dogs, they ask for donations and hold fundraisers, like this weekend's 5k.
"One of our volunteers purchased new signs, 20 new signs. This past Friday night we started to put them up," added DeChant.
But almost all of the signs were stolen by Sunday morning.
"Who would sabotage a non-profit rescue group to make it harder for people to join our group? It's sabotage," DeChant said.
Now, they are scrambling to the word out about the event, in hopes they can still raise enough money to help more dogs.
"We are shocked and devastated," DeChant said.
