DOWNTOWN CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - The Rock Hall induction ceremony is something the city of Cleveland looks forward to every three years.
The Rock Hall announced Wednesday that the ceremony will be in Cleveland next year.
The ceremony rotates between New York, Los Angeles, and Cleveland. Next year will mark the fifth time the city has hosted the ceremony -- Cleveland held it in 1997, 2009, 2012, and 2015.
With the 2018 induction, Cleveland can expect more than just a star-studded red carpet. According to Destination Cleveland, each time the city hosts the event, there's an economic impact of about $15 million.
Tens of thousands of visitors came to Cleveland in past years, and millions will see the ceremony broadcast on television. But perhaps the greatest impact is the lasting effect the city has on a visitor who takes a good look at Cleveland and decides to come back.
Tom Dristoll is a music lover from Boston who came to visit the Rock Hall for the first time this week.
"It's pretty amazing downtown and I'm probably going to come back up here Friday night," said Dristoll.
