Woman carjacked at gunpoint in Shaker Heights neighborhood

SHAKER HEIGHTS, OH (WOIO) - Shaker Heights police are looking for a carjacking suspect that robbed a woman at gunpoint in broad daylight Thursday afternoon.

Police say a woman visiting a Shaker Heights resident was approached by an African American man in the 15000 block of Fernway Road just after 2 p.m. Thursday. The suspect asked the woman to drive him to a location in Cleveland and also asked to use her cellphone. When she handed her cellphone to the man, the suspect pulled out a gun and stole keys, wallet, and car.

Two additional male suspects got into the stolen vehicle and fled the scene.

Police are looking for a four-door 2011 Hyundai Sonata with Ohio license plate BD93LQ. The victim said the main suspect looked like he was approximately 16-years-old. He was last seen wearing a gray jacket with a blue backpack.

Another woman was recently carjacked in Shaker Heights. Police did not say if the two incidents are connected.
