CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - Arbor Day celebrated this year on April 28. The holiday is usually observed on the last Friday of April. Conservationists, environmentalists, activists, and others are encouraged to plant seeds, flowers, or trees and care for the land.
Several events took place Friday throughout northeast Ohio. Mayor Frank Jackson pledged to plant more trees in Cleveland and increase the tree canopy for the future.
Local organizations, including the Cleveland Botanical Garden, distributed free seeds and trees to visitors to promote Arbor Day.
