DOWNTOWN CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - By now, we've all seen that bone-chilling video of Steve Stephens, the man who became known as the Facebook killer.
He posted himself murdering Robert Godwin, Sr. in Cleveland, after asking his victim to repeat the name "Joy Lane."
Lane spoke exclusively with Inside Edition this week.
"I think of him as a good guy who did something really wrong," she said. "I believe Steve loved me, probably like no man has ever loved me before."
Lane says Stephens had a gambling habit, which caused friction in their relationship.
"I didn't fall in love with that guy, I fell in love with the other guy," she said.
After two days on the run, Stephens shot himself as police closed in on him in Erie, Pa.
Lane said her heart goes out to the Godwin family.
