Neighbors on Cleveland's east side disappointed with hole progress

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - Neighbors tell Cleveland 19 they are not satisfied with how city officials fixed their sinkhole. For about two years, neighbors on the east side of Cleveland who live near the intersection of East 68th Street and St. Clair Avenue tell Cleveland 19 they've been dealing with a giant hole. Neighbors, like Willie Graham, are concerned because they worry a child could fall in the hole.

"I even added trash cans to fill-in part of the hole so that if someone does fall they are able to get out," said Graham who lives in the area.

Neighbors want answers and a solution behind this issue that they've been trying to tackle for months. Rico Dancy, who's running for City Council in Ward 10, tells Cleveland 19 he's been asking the city to fix the manhole for nearly two years.

After we informed the city of Cleveland about the hole they covered it and put up cones around the area. Even though crews put cones around the area neighbors said they are still not happy with the end result. We reached out to city officials Tuesday and they tell us that they plan to have a crew fix the sidewalk sometime later this week.
