WESTLAKE, OH (WOIO) - A 25-year-old man is facing sex charges after a store security guard caught him taking pictures up women and children's skirts.
"Wow. That's really disturbing," said shopper Alex Brown.
Disturbing is the reaction just about everyone had when they were told a man was caught inside a Westlake Nordstrom Rack taking pictures up people's skirts.
"You just have to be aware of your surroundings, no matter where you're at," said shopper Tina Cikalo.
Police say security caught Evan Martin, 25, taking inappropriate pictures of at least three people July 9. The youngest victim, they know of, is 10 years old.
"Any place that has a number of women is going to be a fertile hunting ground, if you will, for predators like this," said Westlake Police Department Capt. Guy Turner.
Nordstrom Rack workers recognized Martin because he'd been caught upskirting there before. Last time, they kicked him off the property and banned him from the Crocker Park store. Sunday, Westlake police got involved and Martin ended up in jail.
"It's sad to say, but if you're a woman and you're shopping and some guy's crowding you, this is very likely what's taking place," said Turner.
Tina Cikalo said, these days, she's always on the lookout.
"When I go into some place, I always look to see if there's a hole in the wall or if there's something," she said.
Those are steps, Turner said, that help keep Cikalo safe. He also said to watch out for people in your personal space and, if you think something is wrong, it most likely is.
"There's always been sex offenders, but it's just as technology evolves, so do the offenses," he said.
Westlake police took Martin's phone, tablet, and computer. Martin's now ex-girlfriend also turned in another computer police still need to go through. Officers are working to identify the other victims.
Martin has been charged with trespassing and pandering obscenity.
