Product with racial slur description removed from Walmart Marketplace

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

A product listed on Walmart Marketplace contained a racial slur in its description.

Walmart removed the listing after WMC Action News 5 contacted the company. However, the racial slur still appears when someone searches for the product on Google.

Walmart released the following statement:

“We are very sorry and appalled that this third party seller listed their item with this description on our online marketplace.  It is a clear violation of our policy, and has been removed, and we are investigating the seller to determine how this could have happened.”

The product was Jagazi Natural's Full Cap Weaving Net. The brown color option was listed with the description "N*****-Brown."

Jagazi released a statement on its website saying it was not responsible for the post either.

We woke up this morning to the news that someone has used our name JAGAZI to list an item. Please beware that we are reporting this to as many people as we can and trying to get all the listings pulled down. The real JAGAZI is a 100% black company for black people. People have often used our brand name to try and sell their fake products. Please be aware. Very sorry for all the distress this has caused. We are feeling the pain here as well. Most shocking!

Walmart Marketplace is a location where non-Walmart vendors can list their products for sale. The products are not Walmart products and are not sold in Walmart stores.

Medical Mutual of Ohio has confirmed that an employee sent 45 emails to the wrong person containing personal information for more than 6,000 of its Medicare Advantage customers.  According to a spokesperson for Med Mutual, based in Cleveland, this was an accident because the employee typed in an incorrect email address and the data was going to a third party that didn't have authorization to be looking at private information.
