CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

A GoFundMe account has been set up for the family that lost their 8-year-old son in a house fire and their grandmother to cancer, both on Monday.

The fire happened in the 2300 block of Searsdale Avenue. According to Cleveland Fire Department's assistant chief-on-duty, the fire started upstairs and there were multiple family members trapped in the home.

Mom and one of her children jumped to safety. Marious Cruz suffered from autism. He was rescued from the third floor by firefighters but died at the hospital.

The fire happened hours before their grandmother died of cancer, according to family members.

The home was a total loss and nothing inside was salvageable.

Family members are hoping to collect $40,000. They've collected $1,205 so far.
