Woman's body removed, several animals rescued from deplorable home in Cleveland

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - Police have confirmed that a woman's body was discovered inside a home on Cleveland's west side. Animal control officers rescued several dogs and cats that were inside living in miserable conditions.

Officials arrived to the house late Wednesday night for a welfare check. Inside, they found a deceased 39-year-old woman. Investigators also found several dogs and cats that were in, what police described as, "deplorable" conditions.

The home is located in the 7400 block of Elton Avenue.

Police say that they have requested that the city of Cleveland condemns the house because of the condition it was in.

The woman's cause of death has not yet been determined.

Animal control officers took about a dozen dogs and cats to a local veterinarian hospital. The Cleveland Animal Protective League is expected to take possession of the animals at a later time.
