Local ice cream parlor fights cancer with a 35-hour fundraiser

WILLOWICK, OH (WOIO) - CP's Cooler in Willowick is giving childhood cancer a lickin'. On Friday, July 21, it will remain open from noon through Saturday, July 22 at 11 p.m. 100 percent of the donations will go to Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation, which funds childhood cancer research.

Operations manager Kristina Burns said this weekend is all about giving back and raising awareness about childhood cancer.

"I feel like nowadays there's so many people affected by it that it really hits home to a lot of people," she said.

So CP's Cooler will stay open 35 straight hours to raise money. They've already raised $1,000. Fundraising started July 1 with a donation jar at the register.

Word spread on social media and now customers are stopping in to support the cause.

"That's just good because those kids need that,"  said customer Joey Nowosheilski

"They're gonna be here for 35 hours straight so I can't believe it, didn't think they would ever do that," said customer Kevin Gough.
