CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - There is a report Cleveland Cavaliers guard Kyrie Irving asked to be traded last week. ESPN reporter Brian Windhorst shared the report on Twitter on Friday.
"Kyrie Irving asked the Cavs to trade him in a meeting last week, sources told ESPN," Windhorst tweeted.
ESPN reporter Adrian Wojnarowski said there was a meeting last week about Irving's future between the Cavaliers and Irving's manager. Irving averaged 25 points a game for Cleveland last year.
The 25-year-old is a four-time All-Star reportedly wants to be the focal point of a team. Several reports have him eyeing the San Antonio Spurs.
ESPN's Chris Haynes is reporting the following teams are preferred landing spots for Irving:
- Minnesota Timberwolves
- New York Knicks
- Miami Heat
- San Antonio Spurs
Irving has gone to three straight Finals with LeBron James and Kevin Love.
