ELYRIA, OH (WOIO) -

An Elyria man was sentenced Wednesday morning for trying to run over a group of bicyclists back in April. Judge Christopher Rothgery sentenced 24-year-old Zachary M. Lee to three years probation.

According to police back in April, officers received a call for a report that a group of three male cyclists were struck by a van along 9th Street in Elyria. The bikers are aged 20, 18, and 14 years of age. They told police that Lee tried running them over.

Police obtained surveillance video from a neighbor that shows Lee in a blue Dodge Caravan driving close enough to brush one of the cyclist. The biker was treated for a minor injury. Lee then drove directly at the 20-year-old cyclist, over a curb, and ran over his foot.
