CUYAHOGA COUNTY, OH (WOIO) - You might one day see some local teens on a singing competition show, thanks to a special summer camp.
We found this week's Romona's Kids in Cleveland.
Kids get intensive training in both singing and beat boxing at the A Cappella Camp at Cuyahoga Community College in downtown Cleveland.
"I (said) to myself, let me get into something to make me grow in my singing so when I grow up, I can be a professional singer," said 13-year-old Jakayla Chambers.
The kids learn music theory and styles from jazz to gospel to pop.
"The spirit of everybody getting together, dancing, singing spiritual songs, or songs that just pop into our head and everybody just sings along," said 15-year-old Sri Tyler.
Local professionals give the kids master classes in courses like songwriting.
"I think they're discovering themselves as musicians, and with some of them it's sparking an interest like, 'I want to go to school for this,'" said Artistic Director, Reginald Bowen.
