BEDFORD, OH (WOIO) - John Word, one of the suspects accused and charged with a New Year's Day murder, was sentenced to 22 years in prison.
Word appeared for his sentencing hearing on Wednesday morning. He was charged with involuntary manslaughter and attempted murder.
According to police, Word, 35, shot and killed 33-year-old Trevis Stephens in January. Stephens was sitting in the Lounge 2.28 Bar and Grill when a bullet came through the window and killed him.
Word turned himself in days after the shooting when a warrant was issued for his arrest. He was already on federal parole at the time of the shooting.
Clairese Murray was also arrested in connection to the murder. Police say she was the get-away driver.
