LAKEWOOD, OH (WOIO) -

Lakewood police will not file criminal charges against a man injured by a firework on the Fourth of July.

Wade H. Harris, 49, suffered extensive injuries to his left hand and right leg while lighting a large firework that he purchased a few years ago from a party on a job site.

According to police Harris, who remains hospitalized at MetroHealth, lost his entire hand, even though most of his fingers were recovered the next day at the scene of the accident.

Wade lit a "silver chrysanthemum," which is illegal in the state of Ohio. Witnesses say it was so loud, it shook some of the houses in the 15000 block of Lake Avenue.
