5 hospitalized after Wayne County buggy crash

WAYNE COUNTY, OH (WOIO) - There was a crash involving a buggy Wednesday night in Wayne County.

The Wooster Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is searching for a champagne-colored 2001 Honda Accord after a driver slammed into an Amish horse-drawn buggy around 8 p.m.

The accident happened on Congress Road north of Ruff Road near the town of West Salem. The buggy was struck from behind and the driver left the scene.

Five people were in the buggy. Four of the victims were taken to the Lodi Community Hospital, and one child was flown by medical helicopter to Akron Children's Hospital with serious injuries.
