VALLEY CITY, OH (WOIO) - On Saturday in Medina County, a car tried to avoid a cyclist. Another vehicle, coming the other direction, over corrected while trying to avoid that first vehicle and wound up hitting the cyclist.

That second car overturned after also hitting a pole and a third -- unoccupied -- car.

This happened around 7:30 a.m. on Grafton Road in Valley City, which is west of Brunswick.

The cyclist was flown to MetroHealth with non-life-threatening injuries. Officials said the cyclist appeared to have a leg injury.

The driver of that second car was taken to Southwest Hospital in Strongsville, also with non-life-threatening injuries.

Troopers said the driver of the first car was not involved in the crash, and it's unclear if that driver will face charges.

Troopers said the cyclist was involved in a bike race at the time, but did not say which race. It may have been the Bike MS race, which started Saturday in Brunswick.
