STARK COUNTY, OH (WOIO) - Through an act of kindness, Stark County deputies bought a man a new bicycle after the one he relied on for transportation to work could not be repaired.
Deputies spotted Shavon Newman working on his old, rusted bicycle Sunday near the intersection of 38th Street and Whipple Avenue NW in Canton. Shavon told deputies that his bike broke down. He relies on his bicycle for getting to and from work each day in Jackson Township, which is about six miles from where he lives.
According to the Stark County Sheriff's Office, the bike was unrepairable because of the age and rust on the bike. Deputies game the man a ride home so he wouldn't have to walk home with his broken bike.
The next day, deputies returned to Shavon's home and presented him with a brand new bicycle.
Deputies say Shavon was excited and showed gratitude towards the deputies for the token of kindness.
