CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - Two Northeast Ohio hospital systems have been recognized as two of the best hospitals in the nation according to a U.S. News and World Report study.
For the second-straight year, the Cleveland Clinic is the overall No. 2 hospital in the country, and has been ranked among the United States' top five hospitals for 19 consecutive years.
According to the study, the Cleveland Clinic is the best hospital system in Ohio. It is also the No. 1 hospital for cardiology and heart surgery for 23 consecutive years now.
The Mayo Clinic in Minnesota was named as the No. 1 hospital in the country for 2017-18, according to the report.
The Cleveland Clinic is not the only local hospital system that made the cut. University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center was named in the top 50 in eight methodology-ranked specialties, including cancer, neurology and neurosurgery, and orthopedics.
