CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - Cleveland police investigated an early morning crash on Cleveland's east side that sent two people to the hospital in critical condition.
According to police, officers and paramedics responded to East 79th Street and Quincy Avenue for reports of a car that crashed into a utility pole. The incident was first reported just after 3:30 a.m.
One of the occupants was ejected from the vehicle. Cleveland paramedics say a man and a woman, both in there 20s, were taken to University Hospital in critical condition.
The crash resulted in downed wires and a damaged utility pole. The road was closed while crews cleaned debris from the roadway and made repairs to the utility pole.
A detour was set up for several hours, but the roadway reopened at approximately 5:30 a.m.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
