CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - The mother of 19-year-old Antonio Montgomery recently held his picture as she asked: what happened to her son?
"He had a good heart, he reached out for people. He does help people," said the teen's grandmother, Donna Montgomery.
The 19-year-old and his friends were driving around the west side July 30 when he was shot. He ended up driving into a tree and then into a fence. That's what we know for sure. The rest is what police are trying to figure out.
"They said someone came to the side of the car, snatched Monty's gun out of his lap and then, I guessed the guy started shooting at the truck. I guess the bullet came through the back and hit my grandson in the back of his head," Donna Montgomery said.
The remnants of the crime scene tape wave in the wind as days pass with few answers for the Montgomery family.
"I just want justice. I want to find out who shot my grandson," Donna Montgomery said.
Too distraught to talk, the teen's mother is hoping someone will have some compassion and tell police what happened.
"He was my first grandson, and we had a good bond. I loved him so dearly. I just hate that it happened to him like that because he didn't deserve that," Donna Montgomery said.
Neither of the two passengers in the car with Montgomery were injured, and Cleveland police have not made any arrests.
Montgomery's family has set up a Gofundme account to help with funeral expenses.
