Great Lakes Brewing Co. celebrating 29 years in Cleveland with beer deal, free concert

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

Great Lakes Brewing Co. is celebrating 29 years of brewing award-winning beers in Cleveland today and to celebrate, customers can get $1 off a pint today at the Ohio City brewpub

In addition to the $1 off deal, Great Lakes is throwing a block party with a free concert at the Great Lakes Rock The Block Party & Great Beer Chase 5k from 5 to 10 p.m. Friday

Braxton & Charity (5:30-6:30 p.m.), Midnight Passenger (7 -8 p.m.) and Larkin Poe (8:30-9:30 p.m.) will all perform at the free concert. Rock the Block is free and open to the public. The company is promising food trucks, a beer garden, a photo booth and more at the event

Patrick and Daniel Conway focused on sustainability from the start by opening in a renovated 19th century building on Market Avenue. In the first year of operation, the team brewed less than 1,000 barrels of kegged beer and hand-bottling started the following year. The first bottles were capped by hand and knocked on with a screwdriver to create a foam and push out oxygen, according to the Great Lakes website
