TOLEDO, OH (WTOL) -

Police say a woman was beaten and robbed Monday after trying to buy a cell phone she saw posted online.

The incident occurred on Islington Street around 3 p.m.

Police say the woman wanted to purchase an iPhone that she saw on Facebook Garage Sale.

The woman met up with the man who had the phone.

Police say the man got into her car and pointed a gun at her, demanding her money.

Police say the woman struggled with the man, who hit her in the head multiple times.

Police say the man eventually fled the scene with the woman's purse, leaving his sandals at the scene of the crime.

The man is described as a black male age 18 to 20 years old standing at six feet tall. He was wearing a red fleece jacket, black and gray sweatpants and Adidas sandals at the time of the crime.

The woman drove herself to a gas station where she asked for help and was taken to the hospital to treat her injuries.

The incident is under investigation.
