ELYRIA, OH (WOIO) - A middle-aged man and woman were pulled from the Black River in Elyria Tuesday evening; one survived and one lost their life.
Elyria Fire rushed to the scene at about 5:45 p.m., rappelled 50 feet down a cliff and conducted the emergency operation.
The woman was rescued first and was treated by emergency medical services on scene.
The lifeless man was then located and removed from the water.
The incident occurred in the 100 block of Harrison Street.
The Elyria Fire Department reported the victims were from the neighborhood, but it's unclear what led them down the cliffside.
The victims have not been identified.
Elyria Police are investigating.
