OHIO (WOIO) - At only 16, Yedial Mendez knows what happened in this video is wrong.
"I wouldn't like that...I have no words, I swear," he said.
This is what happened to Mia Irizarry in a Chicago Park.
She recorded video as a man continued to harass her for wearing a Puerto Rico T-shirt, calling her un-American.
She tried to explain to him that Puerto Rico is part of the United States.
But, he would have no part of it.
And Puerto Ricans on Cleveland's West Side are tired of explaining the same, says Carmen Carrion. "We are Puerto Rican and American they have to understand that. Though, no matter what, they have to understand that."
Everyone we talked to had the same reaction when I showed them the video.
Ariel Hernandez has been in the U.S. for 55 years. "I find the video to be very racist, how can anyone say we aren't Americans?"
