Ohio trooper injured after being dragged 1 mile down road in Youngstown (video)

YOUNGSTOWN, OH (WOIO) - The Ohio State Highway Patrol said a suspect accused of dragging a trooper about a mile down Oak Drive on Youngstown's West Side is in custody.

Officials said Jamel Robert Patton was wanted for an assault of an officer because of the incident. The trooper has non-life threatening injuries and was released from the hospital this morning, according to investigators.

It happened around 11:30 p.m. after a trooper pulled the 22-year-old suspect over for driving without headlights on at night, according to OSHP.

Investigators said during the pursuit of the suspect the trooper was able to break free.
