Record number of wheelchairs donated to non-profit for big mission

Update: Record number of wheelchairs collected

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - In July, Wake Up Cleveland on Cleveland 19 News reported on local efforts to collect wheelchairs for the organization "Wheels for the World."

On Aug. 4, a collection drive was held at about a dozen locations around Northeast Ohio.

Karen Fraley, a local volunteer with "Wheels for the World," said this year's efforts collected a record number of wheelchairs.

She said a total of 238 wheelchairs were donated and close to 200 walkers.

Ohio prison inmates repair the donated wheelchairs before they are sent overseas to people in dire need of mobility.
