AKRON, OH (WOIO) - The attorneys of a man shot by Akron police released video of the chaotic scene outside of an Akron nightclub.
The shooting occurred in Oct. 2017 on the sidewalks near Zar Nightclub on South Main Street.
Police say officers responded to the nightclub for reports of a large fight outside.
In the recently released video from attorney Sarah Gelsomino, crowds of people can be seen looking towards a commotion down the street and then fleeing in the opposite direction.
According to Akron police, 21-year-old Latrent Redrick of Cleveland Heights pointed a gun at the crowd. That is when the officers at the scene fired 13 times towards Redrick, who fell to the ground. He was struck several times.
Jamon Pruiett then ran over to grab the gun on the ground and fired at the Akron police officer behind him.
The officer then fired at Pruiett, hitting him at least once.
Redrick and Pruiett were hospitalized, but survived.
Pruiett was initially charged with felonious assault on a peace officer, but was acquitted on Thursday in the Summit County Court of Common Pleas.
Redrick was charged with two counts of inducing panic.
