Brady out; Miller to take seat

COLUMBUS, Ohio - State Sen. Dan Brady is resigning after seven years to take a post in the administration of new Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson.

Brady, a Democrat who represents parts of Cleveland and Cuyahoga County's west side, took office in 1999 after serving two years in the Ohio House. He was re-elected in 2002.

Brady will be an administrative manager for the city of Cleveland's department of public utilities beginning on March 1, Jackson spokesman Mike House said.

Rep. Dale Miller of Cleveland, who has served in the Ohio House since 1999, will take Brady's Senate seat, also beginning March 1.

Both lawmakers are barred from seeking re-election to their current jobs because of term limits. John Kohlstrand, spokesman for House Democrats, said a screening committee would recommend a replacement for Miller.
