Convicted shooter gets 18 years to life in girl's death

ELYRIA, Ohio - A man who shot into a home, mistakenly believing an enemy was inside, was sentenced to 18 years to life in prison for killing a girl watching television in the living room.

Adrian Lindsey, 19, of Lorain, did not apologize Wednesday when he was sentenced by Lorain County Common Pleas Judge Christopher Rothgery. Lindsey pleaded guilty to a murder charge the previous day.

Lindsey shot five rounds into a Lorain home last Aug. 23, police said. One bullet went through a couch on the front porch and a window screen before striking 15-year-old Samarrie Soler in the head.

Lindsey didn't explain why he chose not to apologize to the girl's family, defense attorney Laura Perkovic.

"Some people need time to collect their emotions when dealing with things like this," she said.
